The characters are well developed but allow room for personal growth and surprise The title character has been developed over this 3book series and she is well developed, yet each book adds to her back story successfully The story can be read without the other books in series The story is believable, even the Magic and events for current times The story moves briskly, yet keeps the reader locked into plot I read The book at a blistering pace in less than a week, amidst job, exercise, and family [...]

Andrew Payne can write and I loved his earlier series If you don t mind an overdone read perfect heroine this book may work for you If you get tired of hearing commentary from the lead character that is thinly veiled self praise made worse by a definite limit on self perception, then Jessica Blackwood will get old fast This is such an easy mistake to avoid and Payne is obviously smart enough to avoid it so I am not sure what gives It s too bad because exploring what a magician s training might m [...]
