  1. This was an interesting book because I didn t feel for the initial victim as I usually do when Eve first comes across them I would never have pegged a certain person, not to give away that detail for others reading pleasure, to find the first DB, but it was funny when Lieutenant Dallas came on scene and started getting into it with the other person Afterward, the plot becomes convoluted while Dallas and Peabody try to find Trey Zeigler s murderer, whom no one liked and held grudges against. There [...]

  2. I love the In Death series but I do wonder if Nora Roberts writes them herself or if she uses a ghost writer s , or both Periodically I ve come across a book that just doesn t have the same feel as the majority of the series as if it s written by someone else Festive in Death is definitely one of those books Eve s personality was quite a bit different Twice in the book she was in tears over sentimental things Definitely not Eve Her normal style of investigation was totally off In other books she [...]

  3. The last few books have been slow and predictable but they can t all be over the top and police work can be slow in real life The reason for only two stars is Peabody I m sorry she has the attention span of a ten year old She is concerned with getting something to eat or drink preferably free She wears a outfit that puts both her and Dallas at risk She couldn t draw her weapon or chase anyone down to save her or anybody else s life Her and MacNab are like two dogs Their coworks don t want to see [...]

  4. These books are thoroughly entertaining to me I love the quick wit of this power couple I have read so many of the books in the series that the characters are like old friends to me I can visualize each and every one of them This particular book centers on death around Christmas and involves the rich and famous of New York City There is adultery, attempted murder and murder as well as many despicable characters including the victim Not until the epilogue do we know beyond a shadow of a doubt who [...]

  5. I really wanted this one person to be guilty but it was one I didn t want to be I can usually figure these out when it gets close to the end but not this time Very well written Who killed the sleazy, blackmailing personal trainer Why pin a sign on him after he was dead How will Eve figure this one out in time to let Peabody and McNab get off to visit her family for Christmas How will she get finished in time to let her and Roarke spend Christmas together Read this outstanding book to find the an [...]

  6. I read all of the Dallas and Roarke books multiple times I just finished this one again and have decided that I really really like it I especially enjoy Eve getting involved in Christmas shopping, wrapping, even helping Summerset with preparations It s also great because everybody appears Peabody of course, McNabb, Feeney, everybody from the bullpen, Tiko, Morris, Mavis, Leonardo, and Bella The story is not very gruesome but it s complex with a variety of suspects and a surprise ending At least [...]

  7. I can t believe this series is up to book 39 and hasn t lost the spark that makes it so wonderful. With this edition, we get to see so many familiar faces we ve been introduced to over the years and it was wonderful to catch up in a way with all of them Yes, there was a case, and yes, it was interesting, but for me, it s the characters that really drive this series and make it so addictive not least of all Eve and Roake.I love reading about their relationship and realising how much it s evolved o [...]

  8. Every so often Eve finds herself investigating the death of someone who almost brought it on themselves and that s definitely the case with personal trainer Trey Ziegler The Eve and Peabody find out about their victim the harder it is to have much sympathy for him but Eve is strong believer in justice and as much as she d have liked to lock Trey up for his crimes he didn t deserve to die for them The trouble with finding his killer is that so many people had a good reason to want Trey dead and i [...]
