  1. I am absolutely loving this series I am sad to admit that I did not come back to read this until I found out about it AFTER I read the last book Of course Even reading this late I have been able to fill in some holes that I had, and answer some questions Nothing vital but there were some curiosities, like how Mary and Lacey met I was extremely curious about the fire that Mary is in and of course how she comes about to get her gift.If you ve read the stories this is a great filler and brings you [...]

  2. I chose to read My Daylight Monsters by Sarah Dalton on a whim I am an avid reader of romance novels and needed a break.I am so glad I chose this book I found it to be intriguing and suspenseful The story is about a young girl well young to me, as she is only 17 years old , who has suffered from a horrific experience and is placed in a mental institution on a short term basis on the recommendation of her psychiatrist. Is she now insane due to her trauma, does she really see ghosts, does she have [...]

  3. For some macabre reason, I always love horror stories set in psychiatric hospitals I picked up this novella because I d heard good things about Sarah Dalton s books and I wanted to read something that wouldn t take too much time, as I don t often have the time to really sit down and spend hours reading a good book First off, I loved the author s writing style, and second, I loved the fact that it was set in the UK I read quite a few YA paranormal books per year, and most of them are set in the U [...]

  4. This was really quite good It was a very quick read but had me thinking about it when I wasn t reading and wondering what was going to happen next It wasn t without faults, there were some things that stood out in the writing and details that didn t flow as well as I had hoped, but that didn t hinder me from enjoying it My Daylight Monsters was just creepy enough to keep me engaged and intrigued about the big twists The friendship between Mary and Lacy was very sweet, I only wish that there was [...]

  5. My Daylight Monsters was very readable and had a great flow The characters made sense but we re a bit underdeveloped The author could ve spent time working them up to make the book have a bit depth.I enjoyed the creepiness in the book The scary, hair raising parts were so well penned and had me nervous I was really interested in Mary Hades abilities and I felt like they weren t fleshed out enough in the book I was excited to see upon finishing that there is going to be some sort of sequel.I have [...]

  6. I found this book quite by accident as I searched forshort cheap books to read on my Kindle Fire I havent read much horror since my vision went dark about 2 years ago possibly because I didnt want to dwell on hospital imagery and think of scary s after losing my mother and my home at the same time but this short book drew me in The combination of a framing story similar to GIRL INTERRUPTED and a Matheson style ghost story makes for awell rounded narrative involving characters I could almost see [...]

  7. This is not the usual type of story I would pick That said, this story is amazingly readable it grabbed me by the shirt lived and wouldn t let go It s not a long book I suppose that s what a kindle single is, I don t know for sure Took my mind to places I hadn t been to before and I really liked that And from now on I will pay attention to my intuition oh yes I will, you will too.

  8. My Daylight Monsters by Sarah Dalton is a short novella that introduces the protagonist from Dalton s upcoming novel Mary Hades The novella sees Mary s parents putting her into a psychiatric ward voluntarily for a week due to the visions that she has been having lately While in the psych ward, Mary makes friends with some of the other patients there and learns that they are betting on how many die across the corridor in the palliative care unit because recently it s been high At first, Mary shru [...]

  9. This little novella is a must read if you plan on reading Mary Hades as I found out when I went straight into Mary Hades without any knowledge of this novella In Mary Hades there are frequent mentions of events that happened to Mary and Lacey in the psychiatric hospital where the two girls first met I bought this novella AFTER reading Mary Hades and this little gem did make Mary Hades an awful lot easier to understand so I highly recommend reading My Daylight Monsters first. It s a hard novella t [...]
