  1. I had enjoyed the Netflix series and was expecting something similar I was not prepared for the graphic sex scenes I gave the book to my 90 year old mother, who needs something to pass the time I had to call and tell her to skip chapter 12 Then call back later and just tell her to skip the book It has a decent plot and is engaging, but the LONG sex scenes are kind of jarring The Netflix series left a LOT to my imagination, for which I am very grateful Also, as others have commented, the stereoty [...]

  2. Although the sequel to book one Virgin River is considerably different from any of the Netflix seasons of the show based on this series, I found this a much interesting and better written book than the first The focus is almost entirely on Paige and Preacher, adding much detail, nuance, and character development than in the first book, as well as than we get about these characters in the Netflix show If I hadn t read book 1 or seen the 3 streaming seasons first, I would think that Paige and Prea [...]

  3. I m not sure how I came across this book but I am so grateful I did If you re a fan of Catherine Anderson this book reminds me of her writing John aka Preacher owns a bar in a small town of Virgin River He is described as a large scary Mr Clean We know as the reader he is the gentle, introverted type I love this kind of Hero but if you are a lover of bad boys you will probably be drawn to his friends who have their own books.Paige bursts into Preachers life in a rain storm at night carrying her [...]

  4. Shelter Mountain is the second book in the Virgin River series about a small town with an even smaller population Ex marine John Preacher Middleton, provides shelter in ways than one for an abused wife and her three year old son on the run from an abusive ex.Paige finds refuge from a storm in Virgin River s local tavern, where Preacher immediately recognizes that she s a troubled woman in need Preacher is a man who s lived a solitary life, resigned to the fact that he would never find a woman to [...]

  5. Presentation of this book series is most misleading I purchased book 1 for 1.99 but found myself with the whole series and a bill of 154.71 that I can t get rid of After ordering the book I found my library filled with what I thought were samples of the other books in the series and had no interest in fishing through the clutter It wasn t until I received a bill that I learned that I had purchased the whole series I have disputed the marketing and the bill but have been refused any recompense I [...]

  6. This book came highly recommended and was my first book by this author I just didn t like it There was all these side stories and characters entering throughout the book, is was so distracting I found myself skimming ahead to get past these little mini dramas that didn t add anything to the story I get the author was setting up future books but the sheer volume of side stories was incredibly off putting This book has a soap opera vibe, so if you watch soaps this might be a good book for you As f [...]

  7. John Preacher Middleton is about to close the bar when a young woman and her three year old son come in out of a wet October night Her face badly bruised, and her body and heart worse, Paige is looking for somewhere to spend the night just so she can get her bearings and then move on, but Preacher sees a woman and child in need of a safe heaven and does all he can to gently ensure Paige feels she can stay But when Paige s ex husband turns up in Virgin River, the safe heaven and home Paige and he [...]

  8. Really enjoying this series, decided to try it after enjoying Virgin River on Netflix I am in the middle of the 5th book Lovely light reading for Lockdown Film version changed the story lines a lot but having watched both series 1 and 2 it is easy to imagine the beautiful scenery in which the books are set.
