  1. Some parts were heart rending, soul stretching, and tender Others were quite unbelievable I didn t like Noah for most of the book because his reasons for being cold, distant, and giving his wife the cold shoulder weren t well enough motivated He kept saying to himself he couldn t fall in love again, couldn t risk his heart, but he needed stronger reasons to behave badly The ending is rewarding, until it s ghostly awkward given the lack of legit paranormal elements until the final paragraphs Oh w [...]

  2. Okay, back on the mail order bride bandwagon Next up is Bobby Hutchinson s Lantern in the Window, a story set in the North West Territories of Canada and first in her Western Prairie Brides trilogy It s a novella than a full length novel It s just as well I never warmed up to the lead guy, Noah Ferguson And maybe I should drop a plot spoiler alert. The guy s thirty six, and it s been tough sledding for him these past few years Two years ago Noah lost his wife and eighteen month old son to typhoid [...]

  3. Annie is no us mail order bride unfortunately she has told couple dozen lies in order for him to pick her as his mail order bride The one she says she s 30 3 AM she has a 14 year old daughter and she grew up on the farm Well in reality she grew up with a drunk father a seamstress as a mother and her 14 year old child is a sister because she is only 20 Feeling he has no other choice he brings the two girls home with them After he and Annie have a talk he learns that Betsy is deaf and she is so re [...]

  4. I really ended up liking this book but I couldn t rate it higher. It ends kind of abruptly I was expecting at the end An epilogue would of been great. The hero of the book Noah is a cold man from the beginning He shows care to his new wife s younger deaf sister Betsy than to his own wife Annie. They both lied at the beginning but Annie turned out to be a great wife Noah just wouldn t give her any credit, always comparing Annie to his dead wife Molly. What was really upsetting is after he got Annie p [...]

  5. Despite the misunderstandings at the beginning of the tale this was a really touching story and quite sad too Very talented author and can t wait to read the other two books in the trilogy Well worth reading give it a try VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

  6. My first book by this author and i really enjoyed reading it.This book kept my interest from page one to the last page.I got so lost into the book and forgot about everthing around me.To me that is what a good book is about.Looking forward to reading from this author.
