  1. I really don t think of this book in a how many stars sense I think of it as a book that provides the reader who is interested in world historywith a unique type of source material on Stalin Certainly a book which should be readI had to keep reminding myself that this was Stalin I was reading about and in that context, found it a fascinating read.

  2. Sounded interesting but a totally worthless read If the translation is accurate and I have no way of knowing that Stalin s mother was an illiterate who has the same person male and female in the same sentence Could have been the translation but then the translator is an idiot Worst read I ve had in a long time Thank God it is short.

  3. A HEARTFELT MEMOIR OF A MOTHERS LOVE FOR HER ONLY SON WRITTEN BY A WOMAN WHO STRUGGLED TO SURVIVE AN ABUSIVE HUSBAND AND LIFE IN THE 1920 s in a small village in Georgia We learn about Stalin s childhood and see a softer human side to the cruel and harsh dictator that he became But he always loved and remembered his mother

  5. You would never guess from his mother s account that Stalin was responsible for the deaths of millions of people But it s interesting to read her perspective.

  6. A rustic mother s narration Refreshingmple, passive, without dramitisation, without motive Her commentary, which is missing, on Stalin s later life as Soviet Czar would have been far interesting.

  7. I wanted to know why this memoir has been kept in the archive for so many years.Nothing specific, but good to have a perception of the mother on the early life of Stalin and what pushed him to choose the path he went on.
