  1. I became a fan of Dean Koontz, for a short time, back in the mid to late 90 s Then, for a period of 20 yrs, both life got in the way trying to survive and then raise a family and I then relegated myself to only reading the classics, when I could or classics in the making Nathan Englander, et al Well, now I m back to reading Dean Koontz and I couldn t be happier As a former orphan, foster child and scared teen mother, who saw the dark side of so many fake smiles, trying to find my way in this cru [...]

  2. The Moonlit Mind, Dean Koontz.Evidently a 77 shadow street related novella Haven t read it yet but the sample chapters at the end of The Moonlit Mind would suggest at least the same geographical area is common.I ve always been amazed at how Mr Koontz can turn a phrase, like, The Moonlit Mind and eventually, as he did in this story, he makes it mean than you would ever suspect by just casual consideration. Why 4 stars, not 5 I used the terms for what each star means 5 would be amazing and this one [...]

  3. This is, unfortunately, one of those books I put on the back burner and only now took the time to read I am not a great fan of shorts or novellas but I am a great fan of Dean Koontz I do not compare this to his other writings He seems to be able to change with his topics and characters at will. This is an absolutely beautiful piece of written work There was such a sense of eeriness both in the plotline and in the characters I absolutely fell in love with Crispin the main character of this novella [...]

  4. Crispin is twelve years old He lives rough in the city, always hiding from those who are looking for him When he was nine years old he ran away from his rich European step father, his treacherous mother, his home tutor, his Japanese Nanny, the opulence, wealth and danger of the mansion in which he lived and from the memories of what happened to his younger brother and sister Crispin still has unfinished business at the mansion, business that he can only finish when the cards tell him to.This is [...]

  5. I have never read any Dean Koontz books before but this certainly won t be the last I was looking for something short as a distraction and came across this novella. An immediate empathy with the characters is created and you are drawn whole heartedly into the story. With some novellas you are left with a feeling of a story cut short and hurriedly finished Not so with book, when I reached the end I felt that all of the book was building up to this conclusion rather than a story looking for an end.
