  1. After really liking The Nightingale and Winter Garden by this author, I wanted to try another This one is so completely different and reads like a young adult novel with teenage love, tragedy, a mother s love, etc, etc It just wasn t my style and was predictable melodrama I was disappointed since I had liked those other two so much I may still try another by this author after carefully reading reviews.

  2. Seriously.I m putting this book on my list of worsts along with We Built This City on Rock and Roll and the movie Toys So bad Full of clich and uninteresting characters I agree with everything stated by the other 1 star reviewers I had to force myself to finish it How could the Nightingale be so good and Night Road be this dismal Did Hannah write this for Seventeen Magazine If 100 pages of droning, repetitive description of a mother s completely narcissistic grief is for you, then maybe you will [...]

  3. I enjoy Kristen Hanna s books especially Winter Garden and The Great Alone but this one, albeit a serious and always relevant topic for anyone who has kids, got a little boring and frustrating at times Too much time spent on describing Jude s breakdown after Mia s death It went on for far too long and her reluctance to accept anyone s help was just annoying Additionally, I liked Lexi but found it unbelievable that she chose to go to prison rather than take her lawyer s advice Who in their right [...]

  4. I ve read the nightingale, night road and the great alone so far and I ve absolutely loved every one Kristin Hannah sure knows how to tug at the heart strings and tell a great story I loved this as much as the other two if not I went and bought Pretty much all of her other books and I m going to read each one this tale is about Lexi whose drunken night of teenage fun spirals into a horror story told from 3rd person it shows how each person grieves for that night and I don t want to spoil alert b [...]

  5. Love the writing style of this author I didn t want to stop reading and read to the early morning hours You just felt for each of the characters as you could relate to each one It s a tragic story but so common I have to think in this day and age of under age drinking and driving The mother in this story, Jude, was a helicopter mom but I know a very loving mother but I could see how her children never wanted to disappoint her But she was also an irritating parent who wanted to control just too m [...]

  6. I love Kristin Hannah and all of her books that I have read so far started with the Nightingale and have read 7 total This book though I have never cried like this from a book EVER It was so emotional and so deep STOP READING TO AVOID SPOILERS It is every parent s biggest fear losing a child Jude s grief is exactly how I imagine I would feel I hate how she treats Lexy after though Had it actually been Zach and not Lexy, driving the car, I dont think Jude would have responded the same way I also [...]

  7. Loved this book, despite wondering whether it was for me at the start It was emotionally gripping and I found it hard to put down I loved all the characters and the setting of Pine Island Sometimes it made me feel so involved I was there watching them all from behind the trees A great read.

  8. I stayed up until 2am on a work night to finish this bookat s how wonderful it is.Tells the story of Lexi, a teenager who has not been dealt the greatest hand in terms of family life, who meets up with Mia and her twin brother Zach Mia and Lexi s friendship is cemented very early on in the book From the outset you see that the twins are very much loved and controlled by their mother living an idyllic life with a functional family setting.or so it seems. The story skips on 3 5 years and then a fur [...]
