  1. I don t even know how this was possible, but apparently instead of the full Catch 22 book, I was sent this slender volume that only contains the introduction and some short essays The cover is Catch 22, it says its a novel, and the back calls it the definitive edition Yeah totally, definitive except for the actual freaking novel How did this book even get made Was this an egregious printer s error Was this meant to accompany a larger book Is this a scam I am so confused.

  2. This is very misleading Even the product description says it is over 500 pages What we got was a Cliiff Notes kind of version Very disappointing I even read through the description it does not say anything about it being a summary or just a description of the book and not the real book Rip off

  3. Catch 22 was a dark and comedic novel that turned from Oh no this ll be some funny war story but as you get to the middle you realize how horrific the situations become, and you start pitying the characters and hating some, and later learn they die horribly, some suicide some being mutilated by plane engines or drowning or being thrown from windows You start feeling panic and anger for people who you know are innocent and are telling the truth, yet their witnesses lie and plunges him into a word [...]

  4. This book takes place in Italy during World War II The main character is a bombardier named Yossarian His biggest issue is with his own army that keeps increasing the number of missions they have to fly before they can go home It started at 30 something and at the end of the book it was 80 missions If Yossarian attempts to excuse himself from these missions, he will be in violation of a Catch 22 This rule is A man is considered insane if he willingly continues to fly dangerous missions, but if h [...]

  5. I wanted to buy the novel Catch 22 by Joseph Heller This book cover tells me this book is what I am looking for I purchased it After I received it, I learned it was NOT the novel Catch 22 I handed it to my husband and asked him to tell me what book he was holding From the words on the book cover, he determined he was holding the book Catch 22 In opening the book to find the novel, however, one learns this book contains a series of people s comments and essays ABOUT Catch 22 and writing Catch 22 [...]

  6. Someone I knew in college once asked us for a plot outline of this book We laughed at him It s literally not just figuratively, but literally indescribable This is one of the genuinely remarkable novels of the 20th, or any, century.

  7. I accept that this book has a place in the American literary canon That doesn t make it a very good book, though. The juxtaposition of absurd humor, implacable bureaucracy and the horrors of war makes for a unique storytelling approach However, the book belabors its points and is far too long and repetitive Not recommended.

  8. I read this as it was on a list of one of these Books you must read before you dieetc On this list was the likes of Moby Dick, The Count of Monte Cristo and On the Road All those books were rewarding in their own way Unfortunately, I can t say the same about Catch 22 I pushed myself to finish it, but it was ultimately unfulfilling.Other than the chapters, Major Major and Mrs Daneeka, the book is a disjointed and rambling and at times it just poorly written, not making any sense I found the Chara [...]

  9. I started to read this because i thought i should After several chapter s of nothing happening i checked the reviews to see if I was missing something, I agree with the 8% Unless I m just not clever enough get it, Emperors New clothes if you ask me
