The writing was so simple but so profound Reading this book was like a meditation, a prayer I felt that I was being led into the depths of my heart, and there I found the heart of God.Highly and strongly recommended for anyone struggling with deep prayer, and seeking a sincere and close relationship with God.

This book was amazing but very different from what I expected I thought it would be very nuts and bolts but he almost bent over backward to avoid spelling out a particular method of mental prayer I have had a daily prayer time for over 30 years and found this book challenging and refreshing Father lays out a lot of principles and attitudes and really gets to the heart of prayer I read and shared about this book over a number of weeks with a group of women and I think everyone enjoyed it and also [...]

This books is an excellent followup to the method of Lectio Divina One of the tenants of Lectio is Contemplatio which this author calls Mental Prayer Here the author explores in great detail all aspects of mental prayer how to do it, what to expect from it and how to incorporate it into one s daily life He also dispels many of the myths that surround it If you are into Lectio Divina, the Jesus Prayer and or the Rosary you need to read this book You will be very glad you did so.

I love all of Jacques Philippe s books This one is on learning how to do mental prayer and the author offers many excellent thoughts on how to grow into a closer relationship with God I find Father s writings quiet, peaceful, meditative but challenging, enlightening he helps me on my journey to my Heavenly Father His books are ones to read reread.

I have read three of Fr Philosopher s books on prayer This is the shortest and most accessible It is full of saintly wisdom, especially Sts Theresa of Avila, John of the Cross, and Teresa of Lisieux I would recommend this book highly to anyone just beginning a serious prayer life or to anyone who feels stuck in their prayer life.

  8. Fr Philippe has written another terrific book He is one of my favorite authors of books that are good for quiet, silent meditation and prayer time Time For God inspired my prayer life and has encouraged me to keep going when it becomes difficult.
