  1. I am a lover of all things Irish I am very picky about what I read, usually police procedural or murder mysteries I picked this up because it is set in Dublin Had I known its true calling I may not have given it a try I am glad I did I will not reveal anything specific I will just say that it is well written, a surprise on many levels and love wins

  2. A nearly omniscient commentator introduces us to the people living in an apartment house in Dublin We follow episodes in the lives of each of the inhabitants through chapters that decrease in number but we aren t told what the countdown is for Ms Keyes trademark warmth and quirky characters make this novel a delight and a pleasure.

  3. I don t like to write bad reviews but I found this book boring but I did finish it I think the language had a lot to do with it, I just didn t understand some of the things that were said.

  4. I read good reviews and enjoyed the humor initially but thought it would never end The premise was fun, it was set in Dublin and at first I liked the characters It could have done the job in a much shorter book as each situation went on And on And on.

  5. This is a book I wish I hadn t read so I could read it again for the first time I ignored everything around me to keep reading to the end I laughed, I got goose bumps, I hurt with Maeve and Matt, an astounding, wonderful book Please keep them coming

  6. This book covers the gamut of emotions and I admit I had my doubts sometimes but I m so glad I finished it It was a clever way to deliver the various storylines of several everyday lives for better or for worse It was worth the read if you have a good sense of humor, don t mind some drama and love an unusual but enjoyable fiction read

  7. Once again, the characters are compelling, the story is interesting, there s sweetness without saccharine, a tiny bit of mystery, heartstrings are tugged, and justice is served.

  8. Another very enjoyable novel from Ms Keyes The rather unusual plot device worked well, and I found this to be a most satisfying read I am always thankful when I get to feel this way at the end of a book It reminded me of Kate Atkinson s novel Behind the Scenes at the Museum though they are very different stories, if equally goodDiscovering Marian Keyes has been a big bonus, as she writes so well, using very different plotlines, but consistently builds interesting, believable characters.

  9. It has been a while since I last read a book by Marian Keyes, so I really wasn t sure what to expect from this one Since I was reading on my kindle I initially didn t quite realise just how long it was For at 640 pages it is certainly one of the longest books I have read in a long while.Despite the length my attention was caught pretty much from the beginning where the book started on Day 61 and counted down to Day 0 so the whole story took place over the course of two months and it featured the [...]

  10. This is a very good book The characters in the house are individually explored and this makes it most entertaining Well written There s a beautiful scene where an old lady passes away, so well written, it gets that sense that something beyond our reality is happening when we are born or when we die Well that s how I see it There s a lot of variety in this one the couple who seem perfect but a horrible crime has affected them very deeply, the young taxi driver girl who seems so rough and nasty bu [...]
