  1. City of Ashes is the second book in the Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare It continues the fantastic world building that Cassie started in City of Bones You delve further into the Shadow World and the politics of the Clave, although it still takes place solely in New York City Some people have difficulty immersing themselves in the City of Bones because the pacing isn t fast enough for them, but there are some good action sequences that might make this second book appealing I personal [...]

  2. I flew through this book and have a bunch of mixed feelings about it I landed on a 3.5 5 stars but rounded up this time because it was SLIGHTLY, and I mean slightly better than City of Bones for me While I am still heavily annoyed by most of the characters, there was some improvement here Alec, Jace and Simon all had some growth moments that I appreciated This book was action packed and the pacing kept me up reading way later than I should have on than one occasion.Overall, still enjoyable, a bi [...]

  3. In the second book of Clare s MORTAL INSTRUMENTS series, Shadowhunter Clary Fray is surrounded by Nephilim and Downworlders warlocks, werewolves, vampires and faeries and she s battling a world of demons that few people can see Her mother is in a magically induced coma, and her evil and possibly insane father, Valentine, has secured the Mortal Cup Now he s after Maellartach the Soul Sword another of the Mortal Instruments and the blade with which the Angel drove Adam and Eve out of the garden Wh [...]

  4. I know that this reveiw might anger some people out there who loved this book so if you loved it then stop reading this reveiw.I found this book absolutly nauseating It was disappointing as I loved city of bones I loved the conection that Jace and Clairy had in the first book, but that was before i learned that they were sibilings Now, I know that love can t be turned of like a switch, but the fact thay Jace was still trying to get in Clairy s pants knowing that they were siblings was absolutly [...]

  5. I m loving this series and feel no hesitation in buying the next one each time I finish one I m on the fifth book now This isn t just for young adults, I m married with kids and still enjoying it hugely.I ve tried a few of these fantasy series, trying to find something that can follow the brilliance of JK Rowlings Harry Potter, Phillip Pullman s His Dark Materials, Robin Hobbs original Farseer trilogy or Philip Rothfuss The Name of the Wind I m not saying this is quite at that level, but it come [...]

  6. This book was a re read but I did read it a looooong time ago It was such a homely feeling to return to The Mortal Instruments I started reading these years ago and got half way through Book 3 City of Glass And then other books took over and then new books came out and I ended up so far behind But now I m back and ready to binge read through TMI In City of Glass we re not really introduced to many new characters, except for The Inquisitor and Valentine plays of a role in the second novel I ADORE [...]
