  1. I guess the story was ok but not the book Since it is a 2nd book in a series the writer can assume that the readers read the first book The story was already told, every last dialogue from the first book, where Thomas or Amelia were present was recounted. You may think that reading this story from their POV will be intresting, but their POV added nothing More then that, the recounted dialogue was ment to promote the first book s story so now it was mostly redundant. The true story, the new story s [...]

  2. This was not a surprise, given the reviews This book nearly duplicates the first Duke of Wyndham novel, but from the perspectives of Amelia and Thomas It is interesting to know what happens to them, butThis is the most disappointing of Julia Quinn s books, because it offers nearly nothing new no new character development other than Thomas innkeeper friend, and hardly any advancement of the story It could have been an epilogue like her excellent continuations of some other books, and I would not [...]

  3. This book except for the last couple of chapters, told the same tale as the Lost Duke of Wyndham from Thomas s perspective If it was only a bit of that it would ve been OK but basically the whole book was the same as the first book, just from the different perspective It was kind of a drag to read it

  4. Eighty five percent of this book is derived from the first of this two book series And yet it cost the same, 7.99.Huh I think it is worth closer to 1.99 Someone got greedy I am going to blame the publisher since I don t want to blame Julia Quinn. You don t need to read this one if you have read the first one I was very disappointed and skipped through all the redundant sections and chapters, which I had JUST read in the first book.

  5. A fair attempt to make light of devasting events to the four main characters of these two books This book, in particular, was sad than anything else Being romances, both books ended with HEA, but the occassional bits of humor, does not make for a light hearted read Had this been my first Quinn series, I am unsure whether I would have continued reading her books.

  6. I really enjoyed the first of these books and was eagerly looking forward to reading this one It was quite a disappointment to realize that eighty percent of this second book was almost a carbon copy of the first We did learn a bit about what Thomas Cavendish and and Amelia Crowland thought about each other in the first book However, the dialogue and plot were almost identical and it was not until almost the end that the plot became primarily about Mr Cavendish and Amelia. It would have been so m [...]

  7. I read quite a few negative reviews of this book before I read it and almost didn t read it I am so glad I trusted my gut and read it anyway I had respected Thomas in the first book of the series but came to love him in the second. And all those complaints about repetition None of those readers have apparently ever read a book about the same story as told by a different person perspective I have and have loved many of them But this is not a stand alone book You need to read Two Dukes first.

  8. I was looking forward to the sequel to the first novel in this series, The Lost Duke of Windham This, however, is not it Large portions of the book were lifted verbatim from the first novel, and the new material consists of adding a few things to include Amelia and Thomas, and a chapter or two at the end A cheap thing to do, and I feel cheated Amelia and Thomas deserved a story of their own, and the readers deserved than the old story marketed as new Save your money I certainly wish I had.

  9. This is the story of The Lost Duke of Wyndham, told from the point of view of the sitting duke Essentially the current duke of Wyndham is challenged when Jack Audley, another candidate for the title, rocks up and is recognised by their harridan grandmother The Lost Duke of Wyndham told the tale from the newcomer s point of view and this is from Wyndham s or is he plain Mr Thomas Cavendish I hadn t been intending to read this once I d read the first one after all, I knew how the story ended but s [...]

  10. As lots of the reviews have indicated, this is one half of a pair of books, with much repetition between the two I have to say I feel this is the believable and touching story compared to the one about Jack and Grace Thomas journey is not just about Amelia, it s also about identity and who he really is, underneath it all a decent chap who will do the right thing Amelia accepts reality but wishes Thomas would see the real her I wish they could have had some decent time together before the bombshe [...]
