  1. An interesting concept, looking at the same life altering events, from four distinct viewpoints Three of the four main characters drift along in their lives passively accepting the decisions for their lives, made by their families Only the Hero of this book still suffering from his Napolean War army service and what he feels to be personal failings, rebel from family expectations I don t know when this book was originally published, but, it certainly does not examplify the current lighthearted Q [...]

  2. Will the real Duke of Wyndham please stand up Such a great tagline so I had to use it again on this post I was so excited to get to this duology by Julia Quinn, having storylines that run concurrently but with scenes from different POVs is genius I read The Lost Duke of Wyndham first and am really looking forward to reading Mr Cavendish, I Presume next.Jack Audley is a highwayman and when the story starts he has just stopped a carriage with two women inside, the dowager Duchess of Wyndham and he [...]

  3. Great book and great story Sometime the story is bigger than the love story They don t talk about the big and important thing befoe and while they fall in love so the connection between them is told but not always felt. But the story by itself is very good with modern problems that are dressed with old times suroundings.

  4. This is probably my least favorite of Julia Quinn s books The characters of Grace and Jack fall flat compared to Thomas and Amelia, the main characters in the 2nd book of this series I found myself giving up on this book early on and reading a sample of the 2nd book which pulled me in immediately I recommend skipping this story and moving on to Mr Cavendish, I Presume.

  5. This book was ok, but a bit of a disappointment after reading the Bridgertons series The only really developed character was the nasty tempered dowager and I was sorry she didn t really get her comeuppance One aspect of Julia Quinn s books that I really enjoy is the epilogues It is nice to see a glimpse, several years on, of how life has continued for the couple.

  6. From a highwayman to becoming a lost relative then collecting a thoroughly disagreeable Grandmother with roadblocks to potential Duke s freedom future happiness.Second book I ve read recently dealing with a peer who has dyslexia similar escape mechanisms same turning point The other being Colorado Dawn by Kaki WarnerI always enjoy Julia Quinn s adventures this one did not disappoint gentile friendships, unpleasant character, tangled mess, uncertain future for many Waiting for Grace to crack unde [...]

  7. I must confess that I love ANYTHING written by Julia Quinn Her stories are always well thought out, and incredibly satisfying I especially enjoy this approach of writing the same story from the two different perspectives Each of the heroes and heroines are genuine individuals, true to their time, but ultimately easy to relate to in in today s terms Well worth the read

  8. What a delightful read As I do with most Julia Quinn books, I laughed out loud several times The characters became friends and their stories were heart warming Definitely a keeper.

  9. Grace Eversleigh, companion to the dowager Duchess of Wyndham, was content with her life not precisely satisfied, but she knew things could have been worse right until the moment she and the duchess are held up by highwaymen. Then things get complicated.A kidnap, plenty of insults and numerous arguments disrupt everything, but that s not half as distracting as Jack Audley who may, or may not, be the lost duke The charming rogue has no desire to go along with the duchess plans, but he stays for th [...]

  10. I have to say first off, that I am a big fan of Julia Quinn, and have read most of her books This one was a nice read, and in parts quite witty, but it is missing something and I cannt even put my finger on what it is I enjoyed it, dont get me wrong but it didnt enthrall me in the way that others have I still think it is well worth a read, and I will probably go ahead and get the 2nd book as well, but I am just that tiny bit reserved in my praise because this story isnt brilliantly good, which J [...]
